The New York Times Crosswords Daily is an upgrade from The New York Times Crosswords 2009 (version 1.0) which included a subscription to all daily puzzles and the archives until the end of 2009. In addition to keyboard and performance improvements, we are now able to offer subscription packages, meaning you can decide how much to purchase and when, and do so easily within the game, using your iTunes account.
Customers who upgrade from The New York Times Crosswords Daily 2009 will continue to have access to the same great daily puzzles for the remainder of 2009 as expected. However, beginning January 1, those customers will be able to purchase 30-day, 180-day, or 365-day subscription packages within the game. After December 31, 2009, both versions will continue to work with the included puzzle bundle without a subscription renewal.
The New York Times Crosswords Daily is available on a subscription basis:
• A 30-day subscription is included as part of the initial purchase price.
• Subscription renewals are available on 30-day, 180-day and 365-day packages.
• Renewals may be purchased at any time using your iTunes account in the game application itself by visiting the Subscription tab on the Main Menu.
Previous versions will continue to have access to daily puzzles and the archives until the end of 2009, as expected with The New York Times Crosswords Daily 2009. Customers who upgrade from 1.0 to 1.1 will not need to take any action until January 1, 2010.
With a subscription to The New York Times Crosswords Daily (as with The New York Times Crosswords Daily 2009), you can play the same puzzles that are published daily in the print newspaper.
• Play the daily puzzle from The New York Times newspaper
• Play over 4,000 classic puzzles from The New York Times archive
• Send messages and compare your solve times with friends online
• Compete against top players via the online leaderboards
• Listen to the in-game soundtrack or your favorite tunes from your iPod
• Write in ‘pen’ or ‘pencil’
• Solve puzzles on the grid or directly from the clues list
• Automatic highlighting of related clues
• Check or reveal letters, words or the entire puzzle
• Check out the front page of today’s paper
